Menhir (pronounced "men-ear") is our flagship red wine, named after the stone that to this day stands on our family farm Corcelettes, in Switzerland. We've included some photos of this ancient monolith, and for those of you who really wish to divulge, there is some more interesting history for you if you simply click on the images below.
Urs Baessler (Charlie's father) comes from a long lineage of agriculture- his grandfather was one of the first biodynamic agrologists on Switzerland. Originating from Basel, Urs is at times rough around the edges but don't be fooled by his Swiss German ways - he's a gentle giant. Urs is often found scouting the vineyard on his golf cart or tractor with winery dog Schaze, or on shotgun duty scaring birds away pre-harvest. Urs can fix anything, which comes in handy around a winery where there are a lot of moving parts to the operation.
