2022 Petit Verdot

If the wine wasn’t so beautifully intense, we wouldn’t grow this high maintenance varietal! All year this grape vine physically fights back. The most “niche” of our portfolio. Petit Verdot is a vital blending wine for Talus, even at just 1-5%. That speaks to the overall impact/influence this wine has. As a stand-alone, the wine has pretty floral aromatics - desert flowers, an indication of its planted proximity to the mountainside, dry desert landscape here. Christmas cake and dried herbs wrap dense tannins on the palate.  This varietal ages very well. Its typical higher acidity and lower pH range provide a naturally difficult to oxidize environment. Take your time here and consider the window of 2028-2032 to harness the most of this unique micro lot wine. With only 70 cases crafted, this is a micro production wine- think steak when you do decide to open it!
