Made from Syrah grown on three of our unique farms, this release follows in the footsteps of a very well accoladed Corcelettes Syrah lineup. Each of these Syrah sites are unique to one another – different clones, rootstocks, soils, aspect and slopes. Only when each site reaches ideal ripeness are these blocks hand harvested and combined, in one fermenter with that kiss of Viognier skins, to start the magic that is fermentation. Getting these supple tannins to 30 degrees for 28 days on skins, allows for dark fruits and cured meats to immerge.
This fine wine screams Similkameen sun! Great palate length, intense floral aromatics, bold blackberry, freshness and spice.
Aged for 18 months in 92% French and 8% American Oak barrels and Foudres.
Cellar 2-8 years. We enjoy this wine today, but freshness will converse to darker fruit notes and more dense palate weight.
Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
"This has become one of the standout BC syrahs, and the 2022 vintage shows why. I love the combination of expressive, brambly fruit accented by savoury notes of olive, game, and fragrant lavender. It's complex, pure, and seamless, with a juiciness to the palate that reflects the moderate 2022 growing season alongside Similkameen's hallmark minerality. Youthful now, this will be even better in 2-3 years. Estate grown, co-fermented with 5% viognier, and bottled unfined and unfiltered." -Geoffrey Moss, MW
"Made from estate syrah (clone 100) with a touch of viognier (5%), this intense and expressive Similkameen syrah bursts with violet florals, plum, blueberry, black cherry, and a hint of black pepper on the finish. It further reveals the characteristic gamey, meaty wildness of syrah, complemented by hints of rosemary, thyme, and stony minerals. The ripe, succulent fruit never feels heavy or jammy. A healthy dose of firm tannins and fresh acidity nicely frames the fruit, giving it the structure and balance. This is a superb expression of the variety and a true representation of the region’s unique character." -HJ Cha, Gismondi On Wine
